First flown in 1937, it remained in continuous production until 1969, a 32‑year run that set a world record at the time. Over 9,000 units were built, making it one of the most widely used light aircraft in history. The Model 18 served both civilian and military roles, operating as an executive transport, cargo plane, airliner, and in a variety of military missions such as transport, training, bombing, and photo‑reconnaissance.
