History

Beechcraft introduced the Model 36 in 1968 and the A36 in 1970. The exact A36 variant was produced through 2005, with 2,128 aircraft built; the G36 followed in 2006 as a glass-cockpit update.

Design

The A36 added an improved deluxe interior, a new fuel system, and a higher takeoff weight to the six-seat Model 36 airframe. Aircraft built through 1983 used 285 hp Continental IO-520-BA or IO-520-BB engines. From 1984, the A36 used a 300 hp Continental IO-550-BB and received redesigned instruments and controls.

Variants

Related Model 36 variants include the noise-reduced A36AT Airline Trainer, the turbocharged A36TC, and the longer-wing B36TC. The G36 is the later Garmin G1000-equipped update of the A36.
