The Lockheed L‑1011 TriStar is a medium‑to‑long‑range, wide‑body trijet built by Lockheed. It was the third wide‑body to enter service, after the Boeing 747 and DC‑10. The aircraft seats up to 400 passengers and flies more than 4,000 nautical miles. Its three Rolls‑Royce RB.211 engines are mounted one under each wing and a third in the rear fuselage fed through an S‑duct. The TriStar features autoland, an automated descent control system, and optional lower‑deck galley and lounge facilities.
