The Bell 47 is a single‑rotor, single‑engine light helicopter produced by Bell Helicopter. It first flew in 1945 and became the world’s first helicopter certified for civilian use on 8 March 1946. The 47 series, especially the 47G model introduced in 1953, became the most widely built helicopter, with more than 5,600 units produced worldwide, including licensed versions by Agusta, Kawasaki and Westland.
