Sikorsky H-34j

Manufacturer: SIKORSKY

The Sikorsky H‑34, also known as the S‑58, is a piston‑engined military utility helicopter developed in the early 1950s as an anti‑submarine platform for the U.S. Navy. It evolved from the earlier H‑19 Chickasaw, featuring a longer fuselage, a tail‑dragger landing gear, and a nose‑mounted radial engine. First flown on 8 March 1954, the H‑34 entered service in 1955 and was produced in 2,340 units through 1970, including licensed builds in France and the United Kingdom. It served on every continent with 25 countries, and was the last piston‑powered helicopter used by the U.S. Marine Corps.
