Aircraft Overview
History
After the PC‑12 turboprop proved popular, Pilatus began PC‑24 development in 2007. The jet was unveiled in May 2013, rolled out in August 2014, and flew its first test on 11 May 2015. It earned EASA and FAA certification in December 2017 and delivered its first customer in February 2018.
Design
The PC‑24 is a low‑wing, cantilever cabin monoplane powered by two Williams FJ44‑4A turbofans. It has a T‑tail and retractable tricycle gear. Designed for short and rough runways, it uses an advanced wing with double‑slotted flaps, a stall speed of 81 knots, long‑stroke landing gear, and dual‑wheel main wheels at 70 psi to prevent sinking.
Operations
The PC‑24 is used by air‑charter firms, private owners, and medical‑evacuation services. Operators include the Royal Flying Doctor Service, NSW Ambulance, and several airlines worldwide. It can land on short, unpaved, and rough runways, making it suitable for remote locations.
