Aircraft Overview

History

Embraer developed the E175 within the original E-Jet family after the smaller E170. The LR version extends the baseline aircraft's range by allowing higher maximum takeoff and ramp weights rather than by creating a different fuselage or engine installation.

Design

The E175 uses a four-abreast passenger cabin and two General Electric CF34-8E turbofans rated at 14,500 lbf each. Typical layouts seat about 78 passengers in one class or 76 in two classes, while a high-density cabin can accommodate as many as 88.

Variants

The E175 airframe is offered as STD, LR, SU, and SC configurations. The 76-seat E175SU is based on the LR, while the 70-seat E175SC or E175LL carries the different official designation ERJ 170-200 LL and must not be confused with this ERJ 170-200 LR record.

Operations

The E175 has become especially prominent in United States regional-airline service. The original E175 remains viable in that market because its certified weight can fit airline scope-clause limits that constrain the heavier E175-E2.

Notable Facts

  • The E175 entered revenue service with Air Canada in July 2005.
  • The E175LR gains range through increased takeoff and ramp weights.
  • The E175 normally uses two GE CF34-8E engines.
  • The ERJ 170-200 LL designation belongs to the separate 70-seat E175SC configuration.
  • Later angled winglets increased the E175's span and improved efficiency.
