History

The E‑Jet concept was unveiled in early 1997 and formally launched at the 1999 Paris Air Show. The first prototype flew on 19 February 2002, and production began later that year. The first E170 was delivered to LOT Polish Airlines on 17 March 2004. The long‑range E170‑200 LR variant was introduced shortly thereafter to meet the demand for extended‑range regional service.

Design

The E170‑200 LR shares 95% commonality with the base E170, using the same General Electric CF34‑8E turbofan engines that produce 14,500 lbf of thrust. The aircraft features winglets that reduce fuel burn, a fly‑by‑wire flight‑control system, and a four‑abreast cabin with a double‑bubble design for improved headroom. The design allows for a common type rating across the E‑Jet family.
